What SMS-M is

SMS-M is a personal bookkeeping tool for tracking maaser (charitable tithing) transactions, operated by Ezra Jemal. It is used to record and look up transactions via a website and via SMS text message.

Information we collect

When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and (optionally) the phone number you register for SMS access. When you record a transaction, we store the amount, type, date, and any payee/payer, method, account, or tax ID details you provide.

How we use it

This information is used only to operate SMS-M for you: displaying your transaction history, computing your maaser totals, and processing the text messages you send to and receive from the SMS-M number. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Text messaging data

SMS-M uses Twilio to send and receive text messages. Your phone number and message content are shared with Twilio solely to deliver this service, subject to Twilio's own privacy policy. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.

Data retention

Your account and transaction data are retained as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting us below.
